Dot Area% is the percentage of the area of the paper covered with ink in the area of the measured reticulation tone.
The solid area of the print is 100%, and the area of the paper with no ink coverage is 0%.
For transmission densitometers, it represents the percentage area of dots on the film that block light.
The following relational equation is used to determine the percent reticulation for negative and positive films.
Nega Dot Area% = 1 – Posi Dot Area%
